Women Making a Difference

BY BEATRICE WILSON, CONTRIBUTOR, NATIONAL ORGANIZATION OF CONSERVATIVE WOMEN
Sitting in my bed reading a book I am now compelled to put down, I must write.  This one thing, articulating with words, I can do in an effort to offer a perspective that perhaps you have not already thought yet.  Or perhaps my musings will make you sit up and act. Perhaps something that flows from me will make you realize we are not in this battle alone, and if you are not in this battle, you may be missing some of the most amazing people you might ever meet in your life!
In my journey I have met some incredible women I would not have met had I not made the conscious choice to see this thing through, come government hellfire or flooding from high-waters of
negative thinkers and nay-sayers. These are not famous people or media personalities, but strong and brave women who have served in the home and business world and who chose to offer their gifts for use in this American awakening.  People like Julie Smith,  founder of NOCW, who one day saw a strong and righteous woman striving for better, more honest politics being torn down on national TV and decided this treatment would be unacceptable for her 8 year-old daughter to have to face should her daughter ever be interested in one day serving our country as a government official; Tracy Miller who is a stay-at-home mom who sacrificed the time and attention to her family to educate and speak truth and morality at rallies in order to represent the American Family; Thelma Taormina who was home nursing her wounds and trying to come to grips with a life changed by drastic surgeries, listened to Glenn Beck one day and found that Beck’s call out to the nation to meet in their homes with 2 or 3 of their neighbors was getting too large to contain in homes in Houston, Texas. Following a will above her own, Thelma purchased a meet-up site for neighborhoods and communities to organize and now is President of We The People are the 9/12 Assn.
In my short journey amongst this vast list of great women and men (too great to list all) I am humbled every day to know those who have become closest and most important to me. They are not necessarily my closest friends, but are my mentors and who provide strength, advise and prayer.  They have come out of their homes, away from their families, given up their jobs in order to gather, educate and to give birth to this more perfect union of neighbors, cities, states – and to the ultimate influence of becoming again, one nation under God.
I am reminded “you may choose not to be involved with politics, but politics is certainly involved with you”.  Unselfishly these many fine Americans are supporting this great country with the meager tools we may have, all for different purposes and with different agendas but with one common goal – the restoration of our nation to the principles and values our founding fathers held so dear while writing the greatest of documents, the U.S. Constitution.
Still, we are not perfect, and sometimes we can easily be knocked off kilter. As the winds change in the media, some have begun to consider that those who were leading may have their own goals in mind, while others feel compelled to continue to follow. Regardless of your view of media, TV personalities or news broadcasts, remember that getting active – even for the cause of unity – may bring adversity and sometimes that adversity comes even within the ranks of your group.
I urge you as a friend and a faithful servant, keep your head and your heart straight with God. Now that we are active, the time has come for the sifting of the good fruit from the bad, the sweet from the sour, the genuine from the fake. Stand with God and let no one divide your thoughts from the welfare of our nation, the rebuilding of our culture, faith in our God or your own common sense. Lead, follow or get to the back of the line, but don’t stall us for the sake of the media or you become just like those who are plotting to take us down. What God has brought together, let no man put asunder – and you will know us by our fruits (not our name or our fame).
Betty Kilbride (who’s personal journey I am reading); Jim and Sharon Neidner, internet radio show hosts; Felicia Cravens, HTPS founder; Natalie Arceneaux, radio host; James Robbins, of The Washington Times; Amanda Stam – supportive friend and of course, Lori, host of AllFired Up radio show are some of the fascinating and incredible people I have been honored to meet along this journey.
Are you involved? Are you meeting these incredible people? Take an hour a day to find out more about what you can do to serve from your home. Make your internet a weapon and become empowered with information, education and the benefit of other people’s experiences. But keep your eye on the goal; for we have a long way yet to travel.
